Club MINI2mini Launch Party, Saturday, 20 March 2004
DK and Apple attended the launch party for Club MINI2mini, a club for MINIs and Minis alike. For more information about the club and its website, please click here.
An short inaugural run, organised by Mad Brummie of MINI2 and MINI2mini fame, was probably the most well-behaved run and convoy in which DK has participated.
Once again, PMR446s (commonly known as walkie-talkies) demonstrated their value as a means of communication to keep the convoy together. However, we learned that their voice-activation (VOX) should be de-sensitized or even de-activated in cars that suffer from loud interior noise. Hissing noises over the channel, caused by VOX being activated accidentally, can be very irritating indeed!
The launch party held at Bassett's Pole Pub was well attended, and the pub's management kindly offered a discount on any meals that we purchased. DK's chocolate sundae drew admiration, prompting an influx of orders from the others.
One of DK's raffle tickets won Apple a cartoon to be drawn by Angus of www.mycataham.com, a sponsor of MINI2mini. (Thank you, Angus.) We hope that the completed cartoon will appear soon on this site.
Thank you to all sponsors for their financial support for the club, and special thanks to Cool New Limited, the main sponsor of MINI2mini, for donating so many items to the raffle.
Please join DK and Apple in wishing the club every success for the future.
In the meanwhile, please click here to see a slide show featuring photos taken during the club launch run and party.
Please note that it may take some time to download all the photos before the slide show will start to run, depending on the speed of your internet connection. If the slide show does not start automatically, click "Pause Slide Show" and navigate manually using the "Previous" and "Next" links.
