Heartbeat Run 14 March 2004
Great roads, great scenery, great company, shame about the weather. However, a few drops of rain were not to dampen the enthusiasm of the participants.
Thanks to Brushy, the Organiser, and his team of helpers who had arranged a cracking weekend of fun and entertainment, for an excellent turn-out of 90+ MINIs.
Apple received a wash courtesy of "Brushy Valeting Service" the day before the run, only to be re-muddied as a very dirty Apple by its end. She was not alone, though, since every MINI received a dirty back-end during Sunday's run.
Saturday evening started with a swing, only to be slightly dampened by a long wait at the designated restaurant. But, thanks again to Brushy, the party was soon in full swing again, and at a discount. Thanks too, to LorraineH who had the presence of mind to bring a list of the food that had been pre-ordered, so that the delay was not as bad as it could have been.
The run itself? Well, the route took us deep into the Yorkshire countryside where the "Heartbeat" television series is set. The scenery was fantastic, and the route challenging, with lots of twisting corners and steep hills. Everyone was well-behaved with no major incident reported.
The run culminated with parade laps along Scarborough Seafront, crammed full of MINIs attracting a lot of attention from locals as well as from visitors to this famous seaside resort.
Apple and DK met old friends and made quite a few new acquaintances.

A MINI is not just a car - it is a way of life! Apple says, "Yes I am bright, I was spec'ed that way!" |
