JCC Rockingham 2003 Sunday 21 Sep 03

There was a great MINI2 turn-out for this year's penultimate John Cooper Challenge race-meet at Rockingham. The meet was organised by Dom of MINI2. Please click here for more information about the list of attendees and other information.

MINI2ers benefited from the generous hospitality organised by Macsport of MINI2, a media guru for Rockingham. Macsport arranged for us to have MINI/Mini-only parking, and to be allowed use of the Media Suite, which has a superb view over the entire circuit, not to mention free tea and coffee, and which would have been a place to keep warm and stay dry should the sky have decided to open up. (Luckily, it didn't, but thank you for thinking of us, Macsport.)

Macsport also arranged for our MINI/Mini's to parade the circuit en masse after the race, which we greatly appreciate.

The race itself was full of drama. There were quite a number of daring manoeuvres, resulting in at least 4 cars having to retire before the end of the race. At the end of the race, MINI2 racers Speedster came in second, and AndyW seventh. However, it was rumoured that the results might not be considered final since the winner could be disqualified for excessively risky driving. Please visit the John Cooper Works website for final results and further information.

DK and Apple loved the Rockingham circuit, which has excellent facilities and is well laid out. Macsport made MINI2ers feel really special, and it was evident that the crew at Rockingham pride themselves in running a tight ship. If only all circuits could be like Rockingham! All in all, a grand day out.
