MINI2 Milton Keynes Run and BBQ 21 Jun 2003
BBQ, someone said BBQ? It is DK's favourite way of cooking, so naturally she volunteered to help Paul Mullett (Mr MINI2 himself) with the BBQ while he took care of the route and the rest. Cooking for 70+ people was a challenge, but, thanks to the help of the mums of Abi and Paul, and the better halves of MINI2ers Big Dave, CandH2 and Phat_Mini, who played fairy godmothers, the BBQ went very smoothly and without incident.
However, the run itself was not without incident. Poor Martin L had a nasty accident, resulting in his car being written off and his requiring medical attention.
Poor Mr DK had motion sickness trying to read Paul's excellent pace notes while being sloshed from side to side by DK. Luckily, DK did not take part in the afternoon run session as she needed to go to the campsite to set up the BBQ, so he had a chance to recover his customary poise.
Other
highlights of the BBQ included:
- seeing s of s_and_m up on a tree trying to retrieve his toy helicopter
- introducing yidaho's two children to the delights of toasted marshmallows
- hearing of no evidence that DK's cooking disagreed with anyone's stomach (so
far)
- minibee's daughter asking "What's in the chocolate mousse?" only to
have the adults around her reply "Chocolate, duh!"; and (of course)
- meeting with old friends and making new acquaintances
DK could not face roughing it in the wild, and left in Apple, remembering to take Mr DK, and leaving the happy campers re-living their childhoods ... again.

A MINI is not just a car - it is a way of life!
